A Geographic Information Systems Approach to the 19th Century Excavation of Brixham Cavern, Devon, England
The oldest known spatially-explicit archaeological excavation, conducted in Brixham cave, Devon, in 1858, is reconstructed using geographic information systems technology. Two dimensional plots of individual fossil taxa and flint artefacts demonstrate the utility of the technique for elucidating taphonomy and palaeobiology. The cave served as a den for hibernating brown bears, as a den for hyena...
متن کاملCuboid fracture in a toddler discovered on the whole body bone scan: A case report
This report presents a 3.5-year-old boy who was hospitalized for limping. Medical history and physical exams were not suggestive for any definitive diagnosis. Laboratory and radiographic exams did not support any specific diagnosis either. Subsequently bone scan was performed and increased activity in the ankle due to cuboid fracture was incidentally observed.
متن کاملRecently Discovered Pulsars and Unidentified Egret Sources
We present a correlative study between all unidentified EGRET sources at low Galactic latitudes and the newly discovered pulsars in the released portion of the Parkes multibeam radio survey. We note 14 positional coincidences: eight of these are “Vela-like” pulsars, with relatively small periods, small characteristic ages, and high spin-down luminosities. Three of these coincidences have been i...
متن کاملAbundances of Recently Discovered Planetary Nebulae
In this work we report spectrophotometric observations of a planetary nebula sample towards the galac-tic bulge. A total of 45 PNe was observed and their physical parameters (electron density and temperature) were derived. Ionic abundances were calculated using a three-level atom model and abundances were derived through ionisation correction factors. Results show low abundance objects at high ...
متن کاملA new record of recently discovered crAyfish, AustropotAmobius torrentium (shrAnk, 1803), in turkey
After the occurrence of Austropotamobius torrentium in the Velika River in European Turkey, investigations to observe the distribution of crayfish species close to the Velika River have been carried out. The present observations showed that the distribution of A. torrentium expanded in European part of Turkey. In the summer of 2006, A. torrentium was found in the Madara Brook, but the abundance...
